Kaleidoscopes Quilts, The Cotton Club quilt way!
Although Stack n' Whack is one way to do a Kaleidoscope Quilt, the Paula Nadelstern technique is the one we are going to talk about. We have been fascinated with this process since 1996, seeing Paula's quilts at a Quilt Market when she introduced her first book "Kaleidoscopes & Quilts." We never imagined we would make one. Then, in 1998, when she was about to introduce her first line of fabric, which we loved, we felt we had to know more in order to know how to sell the fabric.
The answer was to take a class and we did. We were hooked. We were so surprised how much easier it was to arrive at the very intricate, complicated, original designs than we thought before going to the class. Since then we have been bringing Paula to Boise, Idaho to teach, every few years. It really helps that she is a terrific teacher & lecturer.
By the time her first fabric line, Serendipity, arrived in 1999, we knew what to do with it! We continued to re-order the fabric for Open Stock until every yard was sold. Benartex loved the fact that we sold it down to the last yard, so Paula continues to produce one line after another. And, as they are introduced, they are added to our Kaleidoscope & Snowflake Category. With the introduction of her book Puzzle Quilt and her Simple Symmetry quilts, a technique using a right triangle, it is more than a Kaleidoscopes and Snowflakes Category.
Her lines keep coming about every 2 years along with other things, like totes and cards. It pays to check back often and to be on our Scope News email roster. We post about 4 times a year whenever there is NEWS!
If you are a Kaleidoscope enthusiast, let us know and we will add you to the Scope News Email Roster. As you will see from visiting the Kaleidoscope and Snowflake Category, We do keep an eye out and find ideal fabrics from many other suppliers too!
