The Skinny Quilt
by Cat Nix
Here is a quilt done by Cat Nix using fabrics from Paula Nadelstern's newest lines of fabric.

The background uses K354 Extreme Color Black-White from her 'reads-like-a-solid' Extreme Colors collection. The small scraps are from her Fabrique-Istan collection.

This quilt measures 36" x 36" finished. All you would need is 1 1/4 yds of background fabric and then whatever scraps from Paula's fabrics to make this.

Personally, we think this could make a spectacular bed quilt. For instance if you want to make a queen-size bed quilt you would need 9 yds of the background fabric. Or if you'd like to use a different background fabric, just let us know. Either let us know in the comment section as you "check out" your online order; or, call - 208.345.5567; or email us at cotton@cottonclub.com.

Crosshatch Squares Quilt Kit
Crosshatch Squares by Joyce Cambron

Joyce fell in love with the Crosshatch fabric design that Paula created in her Palindrome fabric line.

Finished quilt size is 36" x 36" and is made up of finished 5 1/2" squares.

This is relatively easy to put together - however there is no pattern, though we will provide you with a sheet of general guidelines. HOWEVER, a general quilting knowledge for making blocks and assembly of these blocks is assumed.

Kit includes enough material to make the top and the binding, 2 2/3yds. Backing is optional.

Night Sky
Ellen's Version
Quilt Kit
Ellen C. shared her photo of the Night Sky Quilt she made and after posting it on Facebook, we have had several requests for creating a kit that would be similar. That was when we had the fabrics from Fabrique-Istan. However we do think you could put together something similar using fabrics from the ChromaZone collection using one of the 4 color options from the Filigree fabric design.

The picture shown is for the small/baby quilt. Ellen also appears to have added a 6" border (there's the magic and added uniqueness), so we think the final measurement is 44" x 58".

So 3 yards of the focus fabric, Filigree is needed to create the inner stars and border. Depending on which color way you choose, we will provide you with a beautiful contrasting fabric so that your kaleidoscope will pop.

Therefore our kit will include a total of 6 yards of fabric for the quilt top and binding. Backing is optional. You will need the quilt pattern, so if you don't already own it, be sure to order it too!

In order to make this kit it is assumed that you have experience with kaleidoscopic techniques and can adapt the pattern to get the look you desire.

Choose from Filigree Multi, Red/Green, Caribbean or Blue.

Ornament
Embellish your way to a beautiful object brimming with sparkle and ready to display using a simple, non-sewing technique. It's stress-free, it's satisfying, it's creative, it's fun. Have a party. That is what Paula Nadelstern did when these were made. She bought lots of beads and then invited her creative friends over for a great time. If you are not able to print the pattern, we will print it for you for $5.00.

Any panel from any of Paula's collection will work with this pattern. They are similar in size and style and will work wonderfully for this project. You will need to provide the beads, styrofoam balls, pins and enthusiam. To see the panels from some of our collections that they're still in stock - Kismet and Chromazone, and Wonderlust too!

Sea Urchin Pincushion
Here is a wonderful pincushion pattern originally designed by Ellen Highsmith Silver, then modified just a bit by Jinny Beyer by making using kaleidoscopic fabric such as what we have with all of Paula Nadelstern's fabrics. Finished size is about 5 1/2 - 6" in diameter.

We actually discovered this pattern from a customer of ours, Carol V. She LOVES making these and finds she cannot stop - haha! Simply a great quilt group present or a present for your sewing friends.

We're calling it the Sea Urchin pincushion because we think it looks like a sea urchin when you use kaleidoscopic fabric. The pattern is FREE and Downloadable.

Yardage for the fabric is dependent on getting eight repeats of the motif you want to use for all the points.

TIPS FROM CAROL: Carol said she used a regular polyfil and just stuffed each point so that it is hard and not squishy, and used a long-nose tweezer to fill the points. She says the button for the top of the pincushion must be one with a shank. She also says she has learned (through trial and error) to put the top together first and then hot glue the button I in place. You can also place a button on the bottom if you wish.

Another tip - you might find the That Purple Thang a useful tool to help poke and stuff the fill into all those points.

Wondering Star Quilt Kit
Wow oh Wow - here is one quilt created by Vicki Welsh using Paula's Wonderlust collection. This quilt was part of Paula's Trunk Show which should be traveling around to various quilt shops this year.

Vicki had us in mind when she created this quilt and has given us permission to "kit" it up. However there is no pattern. But please go to her blog site, Colorways by Vicki Welsh, to see it this quilt more clearly (if you don't see it, then look under categories under Kaleidoscope Quilts). The pattern really is pretty easy, it is made up mostly of diamond shapes and some half square triangles. The finished size is 36" square.

Really, it's another Fabricadabra: Simple Quilts, Complex Fabrics type of pattern (though you won't find this pattern in the book). For those that are quite familiar with Paula's technique or if you have an engineering mind - you can easily recreate this and figure out the sizes of your diamonds. And actually if you use EQ, Vicki says it's just the Star Block blown up to 36".

Our kit will include all the fabrics you currently see in this picture to make the top and binding. The backing is optional.

Beware of Lust Quilt Kit
Here's another stupendous and unique use of Paula Nadelstern's fabrics. This quilt was created by Vicki Welsh using Paula's Wonderlust collection.

You will have to scroll down on this blog page to find this quilt. Vicki adds that she rarely uses the mandalas panels that Paula creates with each of her collections. However Vicki decided to challenge herself this year. Hence Beware of Lust!

As you can see this quilt is simply made up of Moon Over the Mountain Quilt Blocks. The finished size is 36" square. Therefore we did find this Moon Over the Mountain pattern online from Marcia of Quilters Cache. This pattern creates 12" square blocks which would do the trick for this quilt. As you can see this is a really easy pattern.

Our kit will include all the fabrics you currently see in this picture to make the top and binding. The backing is optional.
