FLD11 Flash Dance Charcoal
The Flash Dance collection, Paula Nadelstern's newest line, would be considered coordinates to the Kismet collection. This line offers a new dimension to Paula's collection. There are a total of 9 different Flash Dance colors. Each are bilaterally symmetrical and the motifs are not outlined in black. |
Flash Dance Charcoal we consider to be the most delicate in design. It has quite an ethereal and luminescent look to it (almost ghostly) with its fluid lines of gray and white highlights. Certainly would look stunning to offset any kaleidoscope design or add another entire dimension to a kaleidoscope design. Of all the Flash Dance colors, this reads most like a solid, but be careful the gray and white highlights do add enough texture so that it is clearly not flat.
Paula says this mirror-imaged pattern reads as an intricate design with lots of potential to create unpredictable, visually active pathways. Use it to create imaginative sashing, with or without cornerstones. For cornerstones, consider a square of Dragonettes. If you don't already have her book, FABRICADABRA: Simple Quilts, Complex Fabric, on Page 81 you will find some illustrated suggestions.
The repeat is 12" along the selvage of the fabric and you will get at least 3 motifs from selvage to selvage. A yard will give you a minimum 8 repeats, maybe as little as 3/4 yard.
