Mettler Silk Finish Multi thread is a 50 weight 3 ply 100% Cotton Thread perfect for embroidery and machine quilting. The color changes every 2" to 3". It could also be used for hand-quilting if it were waxed. We think the 50 weight 3 ply is the perfect weight for quilting a quilt. It is not so heavy that it will sit on top of the quilt and detract from the piecing nor will it sink in not to be seen and the colors are luscious. The small spools are available in 54 colors and the large spools in 36. We carry both sizes in Open Stock, so when you need more we will have it. (Since we are great fans of Aurifil Thread, you may wonder why we don't carry it in the variegated colors. It is because their variegated colors are nearly solid and the 50 weight 2 ply is so light it nearly disappears. Hardly worth the time and money!)

Mettler Silk Finish Multi 50 weight, 3 ply proves its strength in demanding applications. This is the same high-quality thread we have been used to in the solid colors. It is a lint-free embroidery thread made of double mercerized long- staple Egytian cotton and is extremely soft and very easy to work with. Now 54 colors in small spools and 36 in large spools.

Though made for machine embroidery, we feel it is also the ideal weight for machine quilting. Just heavy enough it won't disappear but not so heavy that it will lay on the top of the fabric and distract from the piecing. The frequent color change (2" to 3")enhances both embroidery & machine quilting.
